For the Ironteeth variant, see Irrigation Barrier.

A Contamination Barrier is a Landscaping icon.png Landscaping utility building used by the Folktails icon.png Folktails to prevent soil contamination from spreading deeper into the land. Contamination Barriers can only be built on the ground.

Usage

Contamination Barriers are used in order to limit the area of contaminated land near badwater rivers or during Badtide icon.png badtides. As contaminated soil quickly kills any plant or tree on it, it could cause severe damage, if it reaches a grove of long-growing trees like oaks or maples, which can survive period of draughts, but not a day of contamination.

A single block of Contamination Barrier totally cancels out contaminated soil spreading in its direction. However, due to path-seeking nature of soil contamination, a single Barrier can hardly protect any piece of land. In order to work properly Contamination Barriers must be build in a row along the perimeter of possible contamination area. In case of a single hole in a row the contamination will be spread as usual to 7 blocks from the source. Diagonal placement of Barriers is correct despite visual appearance.

Contamination Barriers do not change irrigation level of the land in any direction (apart from theirs Iron Teeth icon.png Iron Teeth counterpart).

Path icon.png Paths cannot be constructed on the Contamination Barrier, so the most simple way to pave the way through a line of Barriers is to build a Platform icon.png Platform above it with a pair of Wooden Stairs icon.png Stairs on each side.
