The Tubeway System is a mode of transport devised by the Iron Teeth icon.png Iron Teeth, allowing commuters to travel to destinations faster than the speed of walking.

Characteristics

Beavers and Bots gain an additional +300% (x4) movement speed when inside tubeways, greatly reducing travel time. Distance estimates at Tubeway Station icon.png Tubeway Stations and travel lines for Path icon.png Paths are adjusted to account for the reduction in travel time afforded by the transport network.

Tubes behave like Path icon.png Paths, with the added advantage of being able to path vertically upwards through stacking Vertical Tubeway icon.png Vertical Tubeways. Despite its looks, all Commuters in tubeways can travel in opposing directions along the same tube path, and can also immediately turn back at any point of the tube path. This also allows open-ended tube paths to be functional in terms of reach and pathing logic.

Also like Path icon.png Paths, Builders may also work along any point of the tube system inside Tubeway Station icon.png Tubeway Stations, Tubeway icon.png Tubeways and Vertical Tubeway icon.png Vertical Tubeways, with the same unit reach, but also includes vertically upwards directly above their heads.

Tubeway icon.png Tubeways and Vertical Tubeway icon.png Vertical Tubeways are dynamically connected buildings: Tubes can automatically connect to each other when a new tube is placed next to any existing tube.

While Tubeway Station icon.png Tubeway Stations can pass Power icon.png Power to adjacent buildings, the Tubeway icon.png Tubeway and Vertical Tubeway icon.png Vertical Tubeway blocks do not, so transporting Power icon.png Power along the network will still require Power Shaft icon.png Power Shafts.

Tubeway Station icon.png Tubeway Stations can be fully submerged, and Commuters can enter and exit a tubeway underwater. When traveling in tubeways, Commuters are fully insulated from the environment, which prevents them from acquiring wet fur or contamination, should the tube path traverse through bodies of water or badwater.

Tubeways can extend the range of Gatherer Flag icon.png Gatherer Flag, Lumberjack Flag icon.png Lumberjack Flag, Scavenger Flag icon.png Scavenger Flag, Farmhouse icon.png Farmhouse, Forester icon.png Forester, Builders' Hut icon.png Builders' Hut, Tapper's Shack icon.png Tapper's Shack, and other buildings with a limited working range.

Commuters can be Stranded icon.png Stranded if any part of the network it's traveling in loses connection to any available Tubeway Station icon.png Tubeway Station through the use of the deletion tool. Demolishing the tube can free the Commuter and let it attempt to find its way back to civilization.
