Tunnel

A Tunnel icon.png Tunnel is a construction operation where builders explosively remove a Terrain Block icon.png Terrain Block and replace it with a Platform icon.png Platform. This allows for beavers to quickly create paths through mountains and construct underground caverns or canals without needing to level the area first.

While this creates what is decidedly a non-solid hole, the resulting platform makes this a pseudo-Wooden Platforms icon.png solid building.

Construction

A Tunnel icon.png Tunnel can be made on any Terrain Block, and will immediately explode on completion. Builders completing a tunnel are not affected by the explosion. The terrain block is instantaneously replaced with a platform as a means to support any structures that exist above the removed block. The platform can be demolished afterwards. Be warned, however, as this may cause cascading demolitions, especially on sufficiently long overhanging Terrain Blocks

Tunnel icon.png Tunnel sites can be placed above-level, but any structure directly under this site will be blocked from deletion until the Tunnel is either complete or cancelled.

Notes

  • Since tunnels can be placed without demolishing the above terrain and then the platforms can be removed with no labor, tunnels provide a unique new way to carry out blasting projects. Strategic use of dynamite and tunnels can result in large chunks of terrain being supported solely by platforms. Simply demolish the platforms to completely remove the remaining terrain.
