Ziplines are rapid transit for Folktails icon.png Folktails. They allow Bot icon.png Bots and Beavers icon.png Beavers to travel above the landscape without having to navigate varying heights with Path icon.png Paths and Wooden Stairs icon.png Stairs.

Characteristics

Zipline networks consist of Zipline Station icon.png Zipline Stations, Zipline Pylon icon.png Zipline Pylons, and Zipline Beam icon.png Zipline Beams. Beavers and Bots gain +150% (x2.5) movement speed when travelling in a zipline network, allowing for much faster travel than by foot.

Distance estimates at Zipline Stations and travel lines for Path icon.png Paths adjust according to the travel distance, especially if the travel distance of a Zipline would be shorter than existing paths.

Ziplines can extend the range of Gatherer Flag icon.png Gatherer Flags, Lumberjack Flag icon.png Lumberjack Flags, Scavenger Flag icon.png Scavenger Flags, Efficient Farmhouse icon.png Efficient Farmhouses, Aquatic Farmhouse icon.png Aquatic Farmhouses, Forester icon.png Foresters, Builders' Hut icon.png Builders' Huts, Tapper's Shack icon.png Tapper's Shacks, and other buildings with a limited working range.

Travellers enter and exit zipline networks through Zipline Stations. Zipline nodes (Stations, Pylons and Beams) can be built underwater. Travellers are visible and exposed. This means Beavers get wet or Contaminated icon.png Contaminated when ziplines pass through fluids. Nodes can only connect to two other nodes at a time. To build junctions, build a few Zipline Stations close together to provide more flexible travel options.

Ziplines make connections automatically when placed. Connections can be adjusted in the building's detail window. Connections are limited to 30 blocks in length and a slope under 50 degrees. When zipline connections are removed, travellers on the line fall harmlessly to the ground, potentially Stranded icon.png stranding them.

Similarly to the Tubeway System icon.png Tubeway System, there are no lanes or traffic jams. Faster travellers overtake slower ones by passing straight through them.

Unlike the Iron Teeth icon.png Iron Teeth Tubeway System icon.png Tubeway System, Builders can not access build sites and rubble while travelling on the zipline network, including inside Zipline Stations. Construction materials can be carried on the zipline network by Builders, but Builders have to exit the network to access construction sites and rubble fully. This means Folktail Builders have to walk to zipline node construction sites to construct them.
