Gears
Gear Workshops are quite slow, taking
three hours to turn a Plank into a Gear. This is overcome by building multiple Gear Workshops.
Usage
Gears are used in the construction of advanced
Buildings and Materials.
In constructions: see Category:Gear constructions.
In recipes: see the infobox to the right.
Strategies
The
Lumber Mill produces a Plank every 1.3 hours. This means one Lumber Mill can supply 2.4 Gear Workshops.
The
Industrial Lumber Mill is faster, producing a Plank every 0.63 hours. This means one Industrial Lumber Mill can supply 4.7 Gear Workshops.
Trivia
In the simplest of terms, gears change the speed, force or direction of rotational motion. There are many different types of gears. Timberborn depicts only the external gear for the icons, but you can see helical gears at work in power shaft junctions.
Greeks in Alexandria invented gears during the third century B.C. The great Archimedes further developed them. They then had widespread use in the Roman world and beyond. The first metal gears were used in clock-making many centuries later.
History
