Bots are mechanized
Beavers that perform most duties that normal Beavers do. Bots are not affected by Working Hours or Well-Being. Instead, they have a Condition. They are created in
Bot Assemblers from parts created in
Bot Part Factories.
Warning!
Factions
Bots from each
Faction have a unique look and their mechanics differ slightly.
Timberbots
The Bots for
Folktails are called
Timberbots. They need
Biofuel to work and can be boosted by
Catalysts and
Punchcards.
Ironbots
The Bots for
Iron Teeth are called
Ironbots. They need to recharge Energy in
Charging Stations to work and can be boosted by
Grease and being in the radius of a
Control Tower.
Workplaces
Bots are not affected by Working Hours. This means that they perform their duties 24/7, taking breaks only to satisfy their Needs. At first, only some workplaces are unlocked for Bots. The rest must be unlocked with
Science Points.
Bots cannot work at a
Power Wheel, a
Large Power Wheel, or
Inventor. Otherwise, Bots can do all other duties that Beavers can.
Energy
Bots require a self-contained source of power to do work. Without it, Bots would lose 3 points of Condition and move extremely slowly. Any existing tasks would be abandoned, and any carried items would be slowly delivered before stopping work.
Bots look for the closest available replenishing point by straight-line distance and walk to one. This decision ignores actual walking distance and may cause Bots to take a longer route even if alternatives have the shortest route.
A general strategy is to place energy points -
Tanks with
Biofuel, or
Charging Stations - close to their respective workplaces. As for
Builders, constructing temporary energy points can help with
Bots working on projects far away from the district that may run out of energy at the sites.
Out of Fuel
Timberbots indicate
Out of Fuel when low on energy, and would need to consume
Biofuel before returning to work.
Biofuel is stored in
Tanks and is produced at a
Refinery, and is freely accessible like how
Beavers satisfies
Thirst.
Out of Energy
Ironbots indicate
Out of Energy when low on energy, and would need to access a
Charging Station to recharge before returning to work.
Charging Stations require a constant source of
power to operate, even when not actively charging an
Ironbot, and can only recharge 1 Bot at a time.
Life Cycle
Bots have a fixed lifespan of 70 days. They have a durability value that starts at 100% and declines constantly over time. They break down when this value reaches 0%.
Bots nominally require 36 hours of assembly at a Bot Assembler. Actual production time will vary based on various factors, most importantly worker speed. The number of assemblers required to maintain a constant bot population thus depends on worker Well-Being or Condition. The following table gives examples of achievable stable bot populations per assembler, assuming the default 16 Working Hours for beavers.
| Worker type | Well-being | Condition | Working speed | Production time (h) | Stable population |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Beaver | 1 | - | +0% | 54.0 | 31 bots |
| Beaver | 70 | - | +260% | 15.0 | 112 bots |
| Bot | - | 0 | +65% | 21.8 | 77 bots |
| Bot | - | 2 | +170% | 13.3 | 126 bots |
These examples represent the worst and best case for beavers and bots as workers in the assembler, respectively. With possible part or power shortages as well as non-ideal Productivity, actual production time and population size will be lower.
The formula to calculate production time for a given worker speed is:
The stable population size is then derived by:
History
- Update 7: Bots can now work in the Observatory. Unlock cost is 7500
Science Points. - Update 5: No longer required for Terraforming station and Dirt Excavator. Now beavers can work at those buildings.
- Update 3: Golems renamed to Bots. Model updated.
- Update 2: Golems added.
