Fluid pumps are Buildings icon.png Buildings in the Water tool group. They create Goods from Fluids icon.png Fluids or move and filter Fluids.

Water Pumps

These pumps produce drinkable Water icon.png Water from Fluids icon.png flowing Water.

Mechanical Fluid Pumps

For the Folktails, see Mechanical Fluid Pump.
For the Iron Teeth, see Deep Mechanical Fluid Pump.

Behavior

Mechanical Fluid Pump icon.png Mechanical Fluid Pumps are Buildings icon.png structures that use Power icon.png Power to pump fluids from one side to the other across a barrier. This allows for both filtering and raising fluids.

Unlike regular Water Pump icon.png Water Pumps, Mechanical Fluid Pumps do not create Water icon.png Water or Badwater icon.png Badwater goods. Mechanical Fluid Pumps stop moving fluids when the fluid level on the discharge side is 0.1m below its spout.

If the output is a 1-wide canal, it creates a flow of 0.5 cms when fully powered. However, as of experimental version 1.0 of the game, the flow is reduced to 0.25 cms.

Mechanical Fluid Pumps can be set to pump:

  • only clean water,
  • only badwater,
  • or any fluid at its current water quality.

Setting it to pump a specific quality of fluid makes Mechanical Fluid Pumps function like water purifiers or badwater concentrators.

When not actively pumping, Mechanical Fluid Pumps do not draw power. This occurs when the fluid levels reach the limits at the output side, the input runs out of applicable fluids, or the building is paused.

Construction

The main 1x3 body, excluding the pipes, functions like a row of Levee icon.png Levees, walling off fluid and allowing it to be better embedded in a long levee. The blocks under the pipes must be at a lower level than where the pump being built.

Power

Mechanical Fluid Pumps accept Power icon.png Power from either base end block on all exposed sides as well as from below any of the three base blocks.

History

  • Update 6 ; Mechanical fluid pump maximum pipe length increased to 5 blocks from 3 blocks.
  • Update 5: Mechanical Water Pump renamed to Mechanical Fluid Pump.
